India’s Cultural Diplomacy in a Digital World: Lessons and Challenges

“[I]n no other part of the ancient world [but in India] were the relations of man and man, and of man and the sate, so fair and humane. In no other early civilization [but Indian] were slaves so few in number, and in no other ancient lawbook are their rights so well protected as in Arthśastra… To us the most striking feature of ancient Indian civilization is its humanity.”– AL Basham, The Wonder that was India, p8,9.

On the cultural and economic front, India and China are capable of taking bigger responsibility in creating a just and peaceful new world order. The global civilizational initiaves by China and India to create lasting peace and shared prosperity for all are much more appreciated by the world community.  India is on its way to become a major economic player as its going to be the fastest growing economy for coming years and decades. But our military is still not in a position to play a major role in world politics. Hence, India will continue to be a major regional power. India will be a major balancing power in the region as well as a major voice of the Global South.
